Use TikTok DSA Ads Transparency Library Scraper with Python

Search TikTok's EU/EEA ad transparency database by keyword, advertiser or ad ID. Get creative media, advertiser identity, impression buckets, audit status and per-region/age/gender targeting.

1. Choose the data you need

Review the published README for supported collection modes, examples, and limits. The recipe below uses the current published input definition.

2. Prepare a source-based input

This JSON contains published prefills and required-field defaults. Review every value for your task before running it; it is not a promise of successful collection.

FieldTypeRequiredDescription
modestringoptional`library` = TikTok DSA Commercial Content Library (EU/EEA/UK/CH/TR). `creativeCenter` = global Top Ads inspiration feed. `both` = run both and label every row with `source`.
keywordstringoptionalSearch ads by keyword or advertiser name. Leave empty to browse recent ads in the selected region. (mode=library)
advertiserNamestringoptionalExact advertiser name as shown in the library, e.g. `NIKE Retail B.V.`. If the exact search finds nothing, the actor retries it as a keyword. (mode=library)
advertiserIdstringoptionalOptional TikTok business ID (`adv_biz_ids`) to disambiguate an advertiser search. Use it with the exact advertiser name. (mode=library)
adIdsarrayoptionalDirect list of TikTok ad IDs. Skips search and opens each ad's detail page. (mode=library)
startUrlsarrayoptionalPaste TikTok library search or ad-detail URLs. Search URLs carry their own region, keyword/advertiser, dates and filters; detail URLs are read as ad IDs. (mode=library)
regionstringoptionalTikTok DSA library covers EU/EEA countries plus the UK, Switzerland and Turkey. `all` searches the union (capped by TikTok), so split regions for deeper runs. (mode=library)
startDatestringoptionalEarliest last-shown date (`YYYY-MM-DD`). Default: one year ago. (mode=library)
endDatestringoptionalLatest last-shown date (`YYYY-MM-DD`). Default: today. (mode=library)
sortBystringoptionalResult order. (mode=library)
adTypestringoptionalFilter by creative type. (mode=library)
adStatusstringoptionalActive ads are still being shown; inactive ads have stopped. (mode=library)
agearrayoptionalOnly ads targeted at any of these age groups: `13-17`, `18-24`, `25-34`, `35-44`, `45-54`, `55+`. Leave empty for all ages. (mode=library)
genderstringoptionalOnly ads targeted at this gender. (mode=library)
uniqueReachstringoptionalFilter by TikTok's unique-users-seen band. (mode=library)
exactPhrasebooleanoptionalTreat the keyword as an exact phrase instead of individual words. (mode=library)
includeDetailsbooleanoptionalOpen each ad's detail page for caption, CTA, landing page, advertiser identity and age/gender reach breakdown. Slower; recommended for smaller runs. (mode=library)
countOnlybooleanoptionalReturn one summary row with the number of matching ads instead of collecting ads. (mode=library)
maxItemsintegeroptionalMaximum records to collect per source (1–5,000). TikTok caps a single library search at about 5,000 results.
ccCountrystringoptionalCreative Center market. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccPeriodstringoptionalPerformance window for Creative Center. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccOrderBystringoptionalHow Creative Center ranks ads. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccObjectivestringoptionalCampaign objective filter. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccIndustrystringoptionalCreative Center industry filter. 258 industries are available; leave `all` to sweep without an industry. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccLanguagestringoptionalAd language filter. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccSweepbooleanoptionalAnonymous visitors see only 20 ads per filter combination. Sweeping periods, rankings, objectives and formats collects many more unique ads. (mode=creativeCenter or both)
ccIncludeDetailsbooleanoptionalFetch each ad's landing page, comment and share counts. (mode=creativeCenter or both)

3. Start an Actor run

Set APIFY_TOKEN in your environment. Python 3.10 or newer is sufficient; this recipe uses no third-party packages.

Execution may incur charges. Review current pricing on Apify. The request asks for a 120-second timeout and a charge limit; these settings are subject to Apify’s pricing and do not guarantee an all-inclusive spending cap.

import json
import os
import urllib.request

# Save the schema-derived example as input.json; review and edit it first.
with open("input.json", encoding="utf-8") as stream:
    actor_input = json.load(stream)

token = os.environ["APIFY_TOKEN"]
request = urllib.request.Request(
    "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/rwSaNbXr5duaqxZWs/runs?timeout=120&maxTotalChargeUsd=0.50",
    data=json.dumps(actor_input).encode("utf-8"),
    headers={"Authorization": "Bearer " + token, "Content-Type": "application/json"},
    method="POST",
)
# This starts a potentially billable run. Do not automatically retry this POST.
with urllib.request.urlopen(request, timeout=40) as response:
    run = json.load(response)["data"]
print("Run ID:", run["id"])
print("Status:", run["status"])
# Inspect and download results in Apify Console once the run succeeds.

4. Inspect the actual results

Open the run in Apify Console and wait for a successful completion. Use the published output schema to locate results and the dataset schema to understand declared views. Missing or optional record fields must not be treated as guaranteed values.

One row per TikTok DSA ad or Creative Center top ad, with creatives, advertiser identity, dates, reach, targeting and performance signals.

Questions before you run

Which inputs are required?

No top-level fields are marked required in the published schema. Conditional requirements can still apply; check the README.

What does this guide verify?

The fields, prefills, and schema links are rendered from the published build. This is a usage recipe, not a paid live extraction test. Source availability and collection results can vary.

What if the run request times out?

Check Apify Console before retrying. The first request may already have created a run. Do not automatically repeat a run-creation POST.
